About Your Instructors
Jacky Rae specializes in Ayurvedic Nutrition, Yoga Therapy and Panchakarma. She is one of the founding directors of Yoga Veda Life (International School) and the current director of the Ayurvedic program at Yoga Veda.
She grew up in the United States and at the tender age of 18 she became a borderless globe trotter and has since never looked back. After living and working in three countries in the Caribbean and still in her mid-twenties her travels took her to the Himalaya in northern India and on to the tropical beaches of South East Asia.
It was during her time in the Himalayas studying ancient Yogic Philosophy, Pranayama, Meditation, Asana, Reflexology and Reiki that her eyes were opened to the wonderful teachings of Ayurveda. While traveling in remote India she became very ill and was treated by an Ayurvedic Vidya (doctor) with no less than miraculous results. This compelled her to dive into the studies of Ayurvedic Panchakarma Therapies and Massage. She continued her studies into Ayurveda with the San Diego College of Ayurveda, and holds the title of Ayurvedic Practitioner and is registered with NAMA (The National Ayurvedic Medical Association). She spent four years as the Director of Panchakarma at the Monte Vista Retreat Center, a well-known healing center in South Thailand. She is currently a member of the teaching faculty at San Diego College of Ayurveda and teaches Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy 300 hour foundation courses at various locations around the world.
Jacky was awarded the title Yoga Sironami by the Vastu School of Yoga, in the tradition of Swami Sivananda. Her teachers, Lal Maharajh and Shivakami (lorrie) Congloose are students of Bharata a direct disciple of Swami Vishnu Devananda and her teachings clearly reflect this beautiful and authentic lineage of Hatha Yoga. She is a supporting member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists and is registered with the International Yoga Alliance E-RYT 200. Together with her two beautiful boys and husband they host year round retreats and trainings in many exotic locations for Yoga Veda. Her school, Yoga Veda currently offers one of the only complete Ayurveda Yoga Therapy training courses that not only meets but exceeds the standards of both the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA) and the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). Theirs is a dual certification program, Ayurvedic Clinical Yoga Therapist (1000 Hour CYT, IAYT) and Ayurvedic Health Counselor (1200 Hours AHC, NAMA). Jacky believes that Yoga practiced without Ayurveda is incomplete, after all these two sciences were born to complement one another. Ayurveda is the Science of life while Yoga is the practice. Jacky continues her studies at an Ayurvedic college based out of San Diego, and is currently working on achieving her advanced degree in Ayurvedic medicinal practices. She is a budding author and is currently working on a book on integrating Ayurveda into your yoga practice as a therapy as well as an Ayurvedic Cookbook that blends Ayurvedic cuisine with western flare. She writes for Elephant Journal as well as her own blog.

Andy is one of the founding directors of Yoga Life Isla Mujeres and Yoga Life Koh Samui. He was born in Venezuela and has always had a strong interest for two things, traveling and understanding the meaning of life. Luckily for him they are both on the same educational path. Andy believes that by observing life we can learn the true meaning of our existance.
Andy first discovered the Yogi tradition when at the age of 18 he began taking classes in Venezuela. It took him many years of practice to finally jump in and commit to yoga and the life style that it has to offer.
After practicing for some time, Andy decided to begin his studies in India and Thailand learning the concepts of deep Yoga philosophy. He also deepened his knowledge studding Buddhism, acupressure and was certified in the healing practice of Reiki. Andy continues to deepen his practice and believes that you never stop learning.
Andy is the Program Director of Yoga Life. Andy’s deep understanding of the inner workings of the human mind and behavior help him to guide you into a journey of self-healing.
He believes deeply in the concept of Yoga and its real meaning. It is through this he understands that no matter how we call it we all do some form of Yoga in different ways and amounts even if we never step a foot on a yoga mat.
Andy’s goal is to share this knowledge with you not only through asana but to give you the tools to understand the true meaning of what it means to be a yogi. Because the practice of Yoga can be called many names depending on your culture and beliefs, but in the end, everyone has the same goal. To unite with the energy of creation.
Jon launched his career in health care at just 16 years old, as a trainer at a health club. Working in a health club allowed Jon to help others, as well as rehabilitate himself following a serious car accident that inspired his career in health care. Eventually his recovery lead him to Chinese martial arts, herbal medicine, and acupuncture… first as a patient; and then to undertake his own study. Since 1993, Jonny has been treating patients with bodywork, and in 2001 he completed his four-year Master of Science degree in traditional Chinese medicine at the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Science in Oakland, CA.
Jon continues to work with and study the meridian based acupuncture of Dr. Richard Tan, while also utilizing the Master Tung style acupuncture regularly in his clinical practice: readily incorporating applied meridian theory, trigger point acupuncture, bodywork, joint mobilizations/manipulations, cupping, guasha, and Japanese moxibustion techniques into his treatments. His bodywork is most influenced by Thai Massage, Tui Na, and Shiatsu. Jonny has spent considerable time in China and Thailand studying with Taoist master Wang Liping, and several Thai Massage masters including Pichest Boonethume and Amnat Kuchamnan. Jon specializes in acupuncture orthopedics, and has worked with many musicians, artists, dancers, acrobats, yogis, and athletes, meanwhile maintaining a diverse patient base and regularly treating a wide array of conditions. He is very dedicated to offering affordable treatment options, and his clinic in San Francisco offers community as well as private treatments.
We are delighted that Jonnie has joined us: teaching the Thai Yoga Massage aspect of our 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Trainings, as well as teaching Anatomy in our upcoming 300 hour course.
